Laura Edmundson, PT and Clinic Manager at ApexNetwork Physical Therapy in Maryland Heights, MO, attended a seminar titled “Hands-On Vestibular Rehabilitation Workshop: Evaluation & Treatment Strategies for Vertigo, Dizziness, & Balance Disorders”. The course was held at the Renaissance Hotel in St. Louis, MO and was presented by Colleen Sleik, a licensed PT with over 12 years of experience in Vestibular Rehabilitation.The course reviewed anatomy and physiology of the peripheral and central vestibular systems and then focused on types of disorders, patient presentation with each disorder, assessment and differential diagnosis, and, of course, recommended treatment of each disorder.
Laura participated in hands-on labs throughout the course in order to improve assessment and treatment technique. The information and experience she learned and practiced will allow Laura to better treat patients who complain of dizziness by effectively assessing the mechanism and cause of the symptoms in order to properly diagnose and then properly treat the correct system.
