Let Your Passion Drive You

Shane Recer, PT

It’s The Little Things That Make A Big Difference.

I’ve worked for ApexNetwork for my whole career, which has so far spanned six years. I have been at the Granite location for the last five years or so. I love what I do; there is an exciting new challenge every day, and I’m constantly meeting with new patients and seeing new cases.

I have a real passion for helping others and connecting with new people. Every patient or case I come across is important to me, and I ensure I see them from their first day to their last. Even after six years in the profession, it still gives me great joy to be hands-on and to help people get back to the lives they love. It’s never a dull moment for me. At least once a week, I learn something huge that I hadn’t seen or realized beforehand. I’m a constant learner. The new challenges I face, the new lessons I learn, and all my amazing patients keep me coming back every day.

I had what most would call the cliché “introduction to physical therapy.” When I was 12, I rolled my ankle and was fully exposed to the industry during my recovery. It may sound a little crazy, but from the moment on, I immediately knew what I wanted to do. Everyone was so kind and helpful, and it really affected me. However, the reason why it meant so much to me was that the first interaction I had with an orthopedic doctor wasn’t the best, to say the least.

I’m actually from Pontoon Beach, IL, which is just down the road from our Granite location, and I graduated from Granite High School in 2007. From there, I attended the University of Missouri to obtain my degree in physical therapy. During the summer semester of my sophomore year, I contacted Amanda at ApexNetwork to do some observations and found the same kind and helpful qualities in her and the practice. It was from that experience shadowing her and the business that I really came to admire the organization.

When I’m out of the office, I love to travel with my family or enjoy the outdoors, fishing or hunting. It’s not all fun and games, though; I have a 1-year-old and a 3-year-old that keep me pretty busy! The staff is amazing here at our Granite location. Brittany, my physical therapy assistant, has been with me the entire time, and she’s instrumental to my work. I love working with the whole staff too, and alongside them, we have passionate students working with us. They always ask fun and interesting questions and keep us on our toes. Ultimately, everyone does their part to foster such a fun, friendly, and caring environment.

For more information on how one of our fantastic staff members or I can help you get back to doing what you’re passionate about, you can give us a call at 618-709-4125. You’re also more than welcome to stop by our offices. We would love to connect with you and help make your day just a little bit better.
